Senior Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)

The Senior Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) is a highly experienced professional responsible for leading the planning and design of cable infrastructure systems within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of experience as an RCDD, with at least 3 years as a senior or lead RCDD. The ideal candidate will have outstanding mathematics and IT abilities, extensive experience in site visits, data collection, and evaluation of telecommunications systems, and be current with codes and technologies relevant to the industry. The Senior RCDD will maintain inside plant cable infrastructure and develop Equipment Installation Plans (EIPs) for the installation and wiring of cable racks and associated testing. An active Secret Clearance is also required.

This position will be primarily on-site at the Pentagon, where the Senior RCDD will work within secure facilities and must comply with all security protocols. The role may involve travel to various sites for data collection and project management. While the opportunity to work from home may be available, it is not guaranteed and will depend on the specific requirements of the role and managerial discretion. Due to the nature of the position, there may be occasions that necessitate availability and action outside of standard working hours.

This position is a direct hire role with our client, contingent upon contract award.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the planning and design of cable infrastructure systems that support the strategic and operational needs of the DoD environment.
  • Conduct comprehensive site visits for data collection and evaluation of telecommunications and building technologies systems, ensuring project scopes are well-defined and met.
  • Maintain and manage inside plant cable infrastructure, including conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber optics, and all associated elements.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of EIPs for the installation of cable racks, wiring, and the necessary testing during installation.
  • Stay current with codes, technologies, and best practices relevant to the telecommunications and building technologies industries, as well as design and construction standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure that cable infrastructure designs meet all technical and regulatory requirements.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience as an RCDD.
  • 3+ years as a senior or lead RCDD in planning and designing cable infrastructure in a DoD environment.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Must hold a current Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification.
Security Clearance:
  • An active Secret Clearance is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Outstanding mathematical and IT skills, with a strong analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Expertise in the design, installation, and maintenance of cable infrastructure, including knowledge of conduit, cable trays, and various cabling types.
  • Proficiency in developing and interpreting EIPs and ensuring compliance with installation and testing standards.
  • Familiarity with current codes and technologies pertinent to telecommunications and building technologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
