Part-Time Technical Recruiting Consultant (Government Contracting)

Shedd Recruiting Solutions provides corporate talent acquisition and recruitment consulting support to small business government contractors. We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Technical Recruiting Consultant with a strong background in recruiting in the government contracting industry.

In this role, you’ll focus on identifying and attracting top technical talent for our clients’ government contracts, ensuring compliance with federal hiring regulations, and supporting hiring managers in navigating the complexities of government contracting requirements.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of recruiting experience in the government contracting industry with extensive knowledge of security clearances, OFCCP compliance, specialized hiring processes within the government contracting space, and the ability to identify candidates for openings with short deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Recruiting: Source, screen, and present qualified candidates for technical roles supporting government contracts, including IT, cybersecurity, engineering, and program management positions. Identify contingent hires and key personnel for proposal efforts.
  • Clearance & Security Requirements: Work with candidates holding active security clearances (Secret, Top Secret, TS/SCI, etc.) and understand government security hiring protocols.
  • Proposal & Bid Support: Collaborate with business development teams to recruit and secure talent for rapid turnaround RFP and proposal submissions. Provide expertise in staffing strategies that align with contract requirements.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with hiring managers, proposal teams, and HR to develop tailored recruiting strategies aligned with government contract requirements.
  • Talent Pipeline Development: Build and maintain a network of cleared professionals for future contract opportunities.
  • Applicant Tracking & Documentation: Maintain accurate candidate records within the applicant tracking system (ATS) and ensure compliance with federal record-keeping regulations.
Qualifications and Characteristics:
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of technical recruiting experience, with a focus on government contracting (preferable in the DoD industry), RFP recruiting, and compliance.
    • Experience with and ability to identify candidates for opportunities with rapid deadlines.
  • Knowledge:
    • Understanding of and experience with the federal proposal lifecycle process, including the recruitment of Key Personnel.
    • Deep understanding of OFCCP, security clearance processes, and federal hiring regulations.
  • Industry Expertise: Experience recruiting for government agencies, defense contractors, and federal IT projects.
  • Tools: Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (ATS), LinkedIn, and other sourcing tools.
  • Certifications (Preferred): AIRS or other recruiting industry recognized certifications.
  • Equipment: Must provide your own computer and phone with a reliable and secure internet connection.
  • Availability: Must be available to provide support to our clients on a part-time basis during standard business hours.
  • Professionalism: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to represent the organization with integrity.
  • Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive recruiting efforts with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility: Adaptable to shifting priorities, changing contract requirements, and tight proposal deadlines.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, especially regarding security clearances and personnel records.
