We are looking for a Junior Audiovisual (AV) Communications Support Specialist to join our client’s team in Arlington, VA in support of their DoD customer.
This role is a direct hire role with our client with a salary range of $55-60k and is fully onsite in Arlington, VA.
The AV Communications Support Specialist is a vital contributor to maintaining and enhancing the customer’s audiovisual communications infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, efficiency, and alignment with mission-critical objectives. This role encompasses managing, optimizing, and advancing audiovisual systems to support seamless communication, collaboration, and operational excellence. The Specialist will provide technical expertise, identify and troubleshoot issues, and support the overall operational mission and evolving needs of the organization.
Responsibilities Include:
Audiovisual Systems Maintenance and Administration:
Provide technical support and engineering services to enhance audio and visual quality for agency conference rooms and events.
Set up, operate, and dismantle audiovisual equipment for briefings, meetings, and events, ensuring seamless execution.
Perform routine troubleshooting for audiovisual and IT systems in conference rooms, addressing technical issues across Macintosh systems, Aruba Wi-Fi routers, and PCs.
Collaborate with IT department to manage and secure Wi-Fi networks.
Engage with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather audiovisual requirements and deliver effective solutions.
Facilitate vendor support for equipment maintenance, upgrades, and issue resolution.
Assess and recommend new technology solutions to improve audiovisual capabilities for future use cases.
Submit and manage support tickets to resolve conference room and IT-related issues.
Broadcast Operations and Event Support:
Provide technical expertise for recording and broadcasting high-quality audio and video, including remote location support.
Manage live sound mixing during press conferences, ensuring precise audio delivery for simultaneous and consecutive translation sessions, and directing mix-minus signals to separate media outputs.
Deploy and operate executive teleprompter systems on short notice for conference rooms or remote locations.
Configure and operate audio consoles and related equipment for live press briefings, radio interviews, and studio recordings.
Coordinate the transport, setup, operation, and teardown of audio and lighting systems for various events and briefings.
Adjust to after-hours schedules for briefings tied to current events, supporting leadership’s communication needs.
Meeting and Collaboration Tools Support:
Facilitate the setup and operation of virtual and hybrid meetings using platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and similar tools.
Ensure seamless integration of audiovisual systems with virtual collaboration tools to optimize meeting experiences.
Required Qualifications:
0-3 years of related experience.
Must be a US Citizen with a current DoD Secret Clearance.
Must reside within a commutable distance of Arlington, VA in order to work onsite full time.
Must have a current CompTIA Security+CE certification, or be able to obtain within 60 days of starting.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
Proficiency in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting audiovisual equipment, including projectors, microphones, audio mixers, and teleprompters.
Experience with live sound mixing, particularly managing mix-minus signals for events and press briefings.
Knowledge of video recording, lighting systems, and broadcast-quality production standards.
Familiarity with IT systems used in conference rooms, including Wi-Fi networks (e.g., Aruba Wi-Fi routers) and PC/Macintosh systems.
Ability to manage audiovisual systems' integration with collaboration platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other virtual meeting tools.
Experience with multimedia content editing on Apple OSX systems or similar platforms.
Understanding of file formats, media storage solutions, and basic editing software for video/audio.
Strong troubleshooting abilities for audiovisual, IT, and network-related issues in high-pressure environments.
Familiarity with ticketing systems for logging and resolving technical issues.
Hands-on experience with live event production, including recording, sound mixing, and real-time troubleshooting during events.
Supporting leadership communications, press briefings, and other high-visibility scenarios.
Engaging with clients or stakeholders to assess needs, recommend solutions, and deliver high-quality service.
Coordinating with vendors for maintenance, repairs, or equipment upgrades.
Experience working in dynamic environments requiring flexible scheduling, including after-hours and on-call support.
Managing shifting priorities while maintaining service excellence.
